Biography

Dr. Ritam Arora is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. Her academic and research expertise lies in competition law, digital markets, and regulatory policy, with a particular focus on the evolving challenges posed by the digital economy.

She holds a Ph.D. in Competition Law from the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where she was awarded a prestigious full-time postgraduate scholarship throughout her doctoral studies. During her Ph.D., she undertook a funded research stay at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich, Germany, supported by a prestigious research grant awarded by the Max Planck Society. Dr. Arora also holds an LL.M. in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, United Kingdom, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Amity University.

Her research critically examines structural competition concerns in India’s digital economy, focusing on the legal and policy implications of market concentration, platform power, and digital market regulation. Her work explores innovative legal and regulatory frameworks aimed at promoting contestability and restoring competitive dynamics in digital markets. More broadly, her research interests lie at the intersection of competition law, technology regulation, and public policy.

Dr. Arora has recently contributed to the Encyclopedia on Competition Law published by the Centre for Competition and Consumer Protection Laws (CCCPL), Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), authoring entries on diverse aspects of competition law.

She has presented her research at several leading international conferences and academic forums. Most recently, she presented her paper, ‘Gatekeeping without Dominance: Exclusion, Enforcement Gaps, and the Issue of Pacing’, at the ASCOLA-Asia Regional Conference hosted by Kyushu University, Japan (2025). She has also presented her work at different annual conferences of the Asian Law and Economics Association (AsLEA), the 8th Annual Conference of the Centre for Business Law and Practice (CBLP) at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, and in international workshop on Competition Analysis and Competition Law Enforcement organized by the Higher School of Economics (HSE), National Research University, Moscow, Russia amongst others.

Beyond her research, Dr. Arora actively contributes to academic and policy discussions on competition law and digital regulation. She moderated a session at the ASCOLA India webinar, ‘India’s Digital Competition Bill: Innovation, Regulation, and Global Lessons’ (2025), and served as a panellist at the India’s Competition & Innovation Forum (ICIF) 2025, convened by the GW Competition & Innovation Lab of George Washington University in partnership with Lex Witness. Her expertise has also been featured in an interview published by the Saint Pierre Centre for International Security, China, on the theme ‘Rethinking Digital Market Regulations for Fair Competition’.

Through her research, teaching, and academic engagement, Dr. Arora seeks to contribute to contemporary debates on competition policy and regulation while equipping students with the knowledge and analytical skills necessary to navigate complex legal, economic, and technological challenges in an increasingly digital world.
