Biography

Dr. Nishtha holds a Ph.D. from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. Their research provides a medico-legal critique on the early medical interventions that are carried out on neonates born with intersex variations, with the aid of an interdisciplinary lens to examine how these practices impact the individuals outside the gender binary. Their work critically analyzes how legal frameworks have perpetuated the stigmatization and invisibility of intersex individuals, reinforcing binary gender norms and contributing to systemic violence.

Prior to joining O.P. Jindal Global University in September 2020, Nishtha taught at Amity Law School, Rajasthan, where they made notable contributions both academically and extracurricularly. Their academic career has been dedicated to challenging conventional legal paradigms and advocating for greater role of law to bring in inclusivity.
