Dr. Nemika Jha is an Professor at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS). Prof. Jha graduated from The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata in 2005 where she was awarded the University Gold Medal for first rank in class, Sir Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Gold Medal for best academic performance and R. Gopalakrishnan Saroja Gopalakrishnan Gold Medal for best student in Constitutional Law. After graduating from NUJS, Prof. Jha joined the offices of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A. Shroff & Co. (India’s leading law firm) as an associate in its M&A, Private Equity and General Corporate team where she advised some of the leading financial institutions and private equity groups on their domestic and foreign investment strategy in India. Thereafter, she joined the Chambers of Mr. Jaideep Gupta (Barrister-at-law and Senior Counsel, Supreme Court of India) where she primarily worked on commercial disputes and arbitration. In 2007, Prof. Jha went on to join the LL.M program at Harvard Law School (HLS). After graduating from HLS, she joined Chadbourne & Parke LLP where she worked as an associate in its Project Finance team at its Washington, DC office (USA). At Chadbourne, her practice focused on the representation of multilateral agencies, project developers and commercial bank lenders in domestic and international project finance. Several transactions that she worked on were named ‘deal of the year’ by Emeafinance, Project Finance, Project Finance International, India Business Law Journal and Asian-Counsel magazine. In 2013, she joined JGLS, and thereafter, completed her SJD from Fordham University School of Law in New York (USA).

Prof. Jha teaches corporate law and related subjects. She specializes in offering practice focused courses that are specifically designed to equip law students with such knowledge and skills that are required in corporate legal practice. Her interests include corporate law, comparative corporate law, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and project finance.
