Biography

Dr. Manveen Singh is a Professor and Associate Dean at Jindal Global Law School (JGLS). He is also the Director of Centre for Postgraduate Legal Studies (CPGLS) and the Deputy Director of the Jindal Initiative on Research in IP and Competition (JIRICO). Dr. Singh was appointed as a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law, Bar Ilan University, Israel, in November 2022. His primary areas of interest are Intellectual Property Rights, Technology and Innovation, Intersection of Intellectual Property and Competition Law, and the Law of Evidence. Dr. Singh has published on Intellectual Property Law and Law of Evidence in journals like the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice, Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property, NTUT Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Management, Berkeley Technology Law Journal, Marquette Intellectual Property Law Review, Northern Illinois University Law Review, North Carolina Central Law Review, and Capital University Law Review, to name a  few. He is currently carrying out research on standards and the intersection of Intellectual Property and Competition Law, and CRISPR Technology. He recently published his book on Standard-Setting Organisations’ IPR Policies, with Springer Singapore.

Dr. Singh has received research grants from organisations such as Qualcomm and the Thakur Foundation (USA). He completed his Ph.D. from Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University; his research being on standardization and the licensing of standard essential patents (SEPs). Dr. Singh holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law from University College London (UCL), where he was awarded the Master of the Rolls Scholarship, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree from University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Panjab University. He was the recipient of the Award for Teaching Excellence in 2015, and the Awards for Research Excellence in 2017 and 2021 at Jindal Global Law School.
