Dr. Madhumita Das took her Doctorate in International Politics from the Centre for International Politics, Organization, and Disarmament, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her thesis dealt with India’s Foreign Policy towards the liberation movements of Palestine and Tibet. Her MPhil dissertation looked at the territorial question in the Naga national movement in Northeast India.
She is deeply interested in Political Theory, International Relations Theory, Decoloniality, Postcolonialism, Indigenous Studies, Sovereignty, Territoriality, Border Studies, Federalism, Nationalism, and the State. Her area competencies include Indian foreign policy towards Tibet, Palestine, China, Israel, Pakistan, West and South Asia. She also engages extensively with Northeast India and the Naga National Movement.
Madhumita has previously worked as Assistant Professor at FLAME University, Pune. Some of the interdisciplinary courses she taught there were Modernity, Colonialism, and the Nation-State; Security Studies and Non-Traditional Security; Peace and Conflict Studies; Comparative Politics; Research Methodology. She has also taught Theoretical Aspects of International Relations, in the capacity of a Remedial Tutor to MPhil Students in Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Madhumita has field research experience in Sri Lanka, Palestine, Dharamshala, and Kashmir. She has published several journal articles, book chapters, and popular articles on India’s foreign policy and Northeast India and has presented papers at many international and national conferences and workshops.
