Biography

Dr. Kasim Balarabe is a legal scholar and educator with over 17 years of experience in academia and international law. As a Professor and Associate Dean at O. P. Jindal Global University, he specialises in public international law, human rights, international humanitarian law, and the emerging intersection of law and technology. His expertise also extends to international criminal law, refugee law, and the interplay between law and economics.

Dr. Balarabe's academic journey includes a PhD from Maastricht University, where he conducted interdisciplinary research on the right to water. He holds multiple master's degrees, including an LL.M. from the University of Geneva and an LL.M. from VU University Amsterdam. He has been awarded Best Lecturer of the Year by both Kampala International University and the Islamic University in Uganda. His scholarly work has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Research Excellence Award in 2021.

A prolific author, Dr. Balarabe has published in prestigious journals on topics ranging from human rights and humanitarian law to the legal implications of emerging technologies. His book, "Realising the Right to Water and Sanitation in Nigeria," showcases his commitment to addressing critical global challenges through legal frameworks.

Beyond academia, Dr. Balarabe has served as an independent Faculty contractor at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research and has held key positions in government and international organisations. His experience as an Assistant Chief Legal Officer at Nigeria's National Commission for Refugees and the Federal Ministry of Justice has provided him with valuable insights into the practical applications of international law.

Dr. Balarabe's current research focuses on the legal dimensions of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cybersecurity, positioning him at the forefront of legal scholarship in the digital age. He has the ability to bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications.
