Biography

Asmita Singh is a dynamic legal academic and administrator with a passion for Alternative Dispute Resolution (specifically International Arbitration) and gender studies. She is an advocate enrolled at the bar in India. Asmita’s expertise extends across both domestic and international legal frameworks. She brings a wealth of experience from working in multiple jurisdictions, and diverse roles, including Director of the ADR Society and Assistant Dean for Examinations.

She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses on subjects like Gender & Society, Ethical Issues in ADR, Caste and Society, Dalit Literature & Culture, and Feminist Jurisprudence. Asmita is commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights from top-tier legal professionals. In pursuance to this, she has co-drafted course manuals with leading legal practitioners, including Mr. Gaurab Banerji, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, and Mr. Gopal Subramaniam, former Solicitor General of India.

As the Director of the ADR Society at Jindal Global Law School, Asmita oversee all facets of the society’s operations, managing not only fiscal responsibility but also strategic planning, ensuring the society’s activities are aligned with the broader academic and professional goals of the university. As the Assistant Dean for Examinations, she has contributed to drafting important policies such as the use of Artificial Intelligence as Unfair Means in examinations and has works closely with other university officials to ensure fair and efficient exam processes. Beyond the classroom, Asmita is an outdoor enthusiast, having conquered multiple mountain peaks in Himachal Pradesh, India competed at the national level in swimming and is also trained in 10m Air Rifle shooting. Asmita’s research focuses on the intersection of law, society, and emerging technologies, with recent projects exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in arbitration and the gendered dynamics of dispute resolution.
