Biography

Ashiv Choudhary is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR). Since joining Jindal Global Law School in 2020, he has developed a distinctive academic profile in the field of dispute resolution through sustained engagement with teaching, research, and institutional initiatives. He holds an LL.M. in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with Distinction in his dissertation titled Arbitrability of Patents in India, and holds a B.A. LL.B. from The Law School, University of Jammu. He is a certified mediator and UGC-NET qualified. His research interests lie at the intersection of alternative dispute resolution and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on the implications of artificial intelligence for arbitration, mediation, negotiation, and online dispute resolution.

At Jindal Global Law School, he teaches core courses including Alternative Dispute Resolution, Negotiation and Mediation for Business, Mediation and Conciliation, and Drafting, Pleading, and Conveyancing. His teaching and scholarship are informed by a sustained interest in the future of dispute resolution and in the ways legal processes are being reshaped by technological change. He serves as Faculty Advisor to ADR HOC and previously served as Faculty Coordinator of the ADR Society. He also contributes to academic life through scholarly review, including as a Reviewer for the Conflict Resolution Quarterly (Wiley), Jindal Journal of Public Policy, etc.

His academic profile is further distinguished by sustained international engagement in the field of dispute resolution. He is associated with leading international professional communities through memberships such as the CIArb Young Members Group and the London Court of International Arbitration. He has further deepened his scholarly and professional engagement through active participation in international conferences and advanced programmes, including presenting his research in centres such as London, Vienna, Singapore, Japan, etc. These experiences have broadened his comparative perspective, strengthened his academic networks, and enabled him to situate questions of ADR, ODR, and artificial intelligence within wider cross-jurisdictional and institutional conversations on the future of dispute resolution.

He brings to academia a blend of doctrinal interest, practical legal experience, and international exposure. His professional and training experience includes work with Justice T.S. Thakur, both in his capacity as former Chief Justice of India and as Arbitrator, as well as with the National Green Tribunal, senior advocates, and a London-based law firm. These experiences have given him exposure to constitutional, civil, criminal, and arbitration matters, as well as to the English solicitor-barrister system. This combination of scholarly inquiry, institutional engagement, and practice-based insight continues to shape his contribution to the study and teaching of dispute resolution in a rapidly evolving legal and technological landscape.
