Biography

Anujay is an Assistant Professor at JGLS. He read his Master of Law (LLM) at the world-renowned Wolfson College, University of Cambridge undertaking specialist courses in legislation, jurisprudence, international human rights law, and criminal justice and human rights law. He served as an Editor and a Conference Reviewer to the prestigious Cambridge International Law Journal (SCOPUS Q2), and concomitantly worked as a Project Researcher for the Cambridge Pro Bono Project on a project evaluating Gender Based Violence (GBV) in a selected country from lens of the best practices under international law and comparative domestic laws for the World Bank, Washington D.C., USA. 

During his legal studies at JGLS, he was among the only two alumni to graduate with four Outstanding Dean’s Awards (2015-20) for ‘academic initiatives’, ‘mooting’, ‘institution building’, and ‘leadership in election commission’ all received from the JGU Vice Chancellor. He was also awarded but did not avail of the coveted CEU Master’s Distinction Scholarship (100%) to pursue the LLM in Comparative Constitutional Law from the Central European University. 

Predominantly interested in comparative constitutional law, theory, and design, he has written extensively in leading journals and forums such as the Comparative Constitutional Law and Administrative Law Journal, NLSIU’s Indian Journal of International Economic Law, NUJS IJLPR, IACL-AIDC Blog, Völkerrechtsblog, The Solitaire Law (UK), The Sunday Guardian, National Law School of India Review, and the IndiaCorpLaw Blog, and was previously involved with various research centres at JGLS. He is ranked among the top 5% of SSRN authors globally by downloads as on February 2023. 

At JGLS, he has taught courses such as Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence. He has extensively served as an Assistant Dean at the Research Dean’s Office for nearly two years, and was heavily involved in the ideation and organisation of the National Convention on the Constitution of India, 2024 led by the Vice Chancellor’s Office. He is an active fellow of the Centre for Constitutional Law Studies and leads its new Citizenship series. He has previously lectured for Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) while simultaneously teaching at JGLS. More recently, he has co-written a chapter on ‘Constitutional Change’ for the forthcoming Cambridge Companion on the Constitution of India. 

Beyond scholarly pursuits, he loves exploring, music, movies, anime/manga, general knowledge, gaming, and world history. He has frequently performed Hindi and English songs at Cambridge and JGU.
