Dr. Surbhi Kapur is an Assistant Professor at the Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global (Institution of Eminence Deemed to be University). She is an alumnus of the National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law, Hyderabad, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, India, wherein she held an outstanding academic record being adjudged as the University Topper and highest CGPA holder. Before joining JGLS, she was engaged as an Assistant Professor (Law) and Head, of the Centre for Insolvency and Bankruptcy, at the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India. At IICA, Dr. Kapur steered the mandate of the Graduate Insolvency Programme (GIP), a flagship course of the MCA as its Course Director. She had earlier served as a Senior Research Associate (Law) with the Office of the Executive Director, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) relating to the Divisions such as Legal Affairs, Research, and International Affairs, High Court of Delhi, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), and Central Information Commission (CIC).

Dr. Kapur has authored and presented articles and research papers in both national as well as international journals and conferences on the themes of, inter alia, insolvency and bankruptcy laws, international food law and policy, and commercial laws. Her professional journey encompasses trysts with learning the practical aspects of law and then blending them with its theoretical foundations. Her teaching interests are directly informed by her scholarly research, and fall broadly in the areas of international law (especially international commercial and trade laws), insolvency and bankruptcy laws, and regulatory landscape, governance, and principles of regulation. She qualified for the UGC- NET exam in the discipline- Law in the year 2013.

In February 2020, Dr. Kapur was nominated for the Twenty-third Appreciation Course on Legislative Drafting by the IBBI hosted by the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR), Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. She also contributed to the reviewing and vetting of the six volumes of Technical Manuals prepared by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank Group. In 2019, she was selected to be a part of the first Indian Delegation at the INSOL Europe Academic Forum and Annual Congress, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. She has also authored the ‘Country Report for India’ for INSOL Europe Coronavirus Tracker of Insolvency Reforms, published by Lexis Nexis. Dr Kapur is a certified Mediator in all areas of conflict prevention and resolution. She has also been a Visiting Scholar at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law, Pace University, United States of America.
