Dr. Sourav holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Law from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore for his research over the impact of family jurisprudence on queer lives in India. Formerly, a Felix Scholar, he received Master of Research (M. Res.) in Law and Society from the University of Reading. He also has a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi and Bachelor of Arts and Law (B.A., LL.B.) from Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.

As an independent consultant, he is involved in advising international and grassroots level organisations, including the School of Agriculture, Policy and Development at University of Reading, and Queerala, an organisation for Kerala LGBTIQ+ community. Previously, he was Assistant Professor at the School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore where offered undergraduate courses on Constitutional Law, Human Rights, and Law and Society. Before that, he has worked with the Centre for Women and Law, National Law School of India University on their Human Rights Lawyering Project. His recent academic publication titled “Corrective Surgeries on Persons born with Intersex Variations in India” is in press with the Journal of Dharma. Currently, he is working on a Discourse Analysis of non-mainstream sub-discourses over gender variance within the medical/psychological literature in Britain.
