Dr. Anjana Hazarika has been currently teaching Sociology and Business Governance in the Jindal Global Law School at O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana since 2012. She has passed her BA (Hons-Anthropology) with first class from the Cotton College, Gauhati University Assam. Afterwards, she has done both her MA (Sociology) and M. Phil (Sociology-Specialization-Caste-Class Relations) with first class grades from the Centre for the Study of Social Systems (CSSS) from the School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Then she has pursued her Ph.D (Specialization-Corporate Social Responsibility and Business Ethics) from the School of Management and Labour Studies (SMLS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.

Besides teaching the core discipline of Sociology, she offers a course titled ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Governance and Development’ across all the schools at Jindal University. She has published more than seven research papers in both national and international journals, apart from writing for national newspapers. She has published a book, titled ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Governance and Workplace Practices-A New Perspective’, Pentagon Press, New Delhi. Her two book chapters brought out by Springer are: History and Significance of CSR and Social Audit in Business: Setting A Regulatory Framework in Mia Mahmudur Rahim and Samuel O. Idowu eds. (2015) Social Audit and Regulation; Shrenis: The Legacy of CSR in India in Harpreet Kaur ed. (2021), Facets of Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility in India.

And currently she is writing a book on ‘The Shrenis: Recasting the Ancient Indian Business-Society Relations’ which would be published soon.

Apart from these, she has attended and presented papers in a number of seminars and workshops both in India and abroad. Her academic engagements go beyond the classrooms. She has been conducting interactive sessions with students on various social issues such as Khap Panchayat, child labor, women empowerment, impact of information and communication technology on the youth and children etc.
