Biography

Akash Gupta is an Associate Professor and Assistant Director at the Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR), Jindal Global Law School, where he teaches courses in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Arbitration. He plays an active role in legal academia, serving as Assistant Editor of the Indian Review of International Arbitration (MNLU), Peer Review Board Member of the Indian Arbitration Law Review (NLIU), and Advisory Board Member of the RMLNLU Law Review (RMLNLU).

In recognition of his contributions, Akash was awarded the Young ADR Academic of the Year by the Asia Pacific Centre for Arbitration & Mediation in 2023. In 2025, he was appointed as a Young IAMC Steering Committee Member (2025–27) at IAMC Hyderabad.

He has led workshops and credit courses on Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation, Mooting, and ADR Competitions, engaging students from over 50 law schools. He has also served as a judge in more than 100 moot and ADR competitions, including prestigious events such as the Vis, Jessup, Stetson, FDI, and NLSTIAM.

Akash is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Arbitration at GD Goenka University. He holds an LL.M. in International Commercial Arbitration Law from Stockholm University and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from TNNLU, Trichy. He has also attended summer and winter programs at the Hague Academy of International Law (sponsored), the Paris Arbitration Academy (scholarship), and the WIPO Academy.

His research interests include International Commercial Arbitration, Indian Arbitration, Negotiation, and Mediation.

Ranked among the Top 16 out of 372 global teams at the 26th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vienna, 2019), and received an Honourable Mention for Best Memorandum for Claimant.

Awarded “Most Versatile Oralist” at the 6th Bucharest Pre-Moot, organised by the Faculty of Law, University of Bucharest, Romania (2019).

Recipient of the Colin J. Wall Spirit of the Moot Award at the 13th Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Hong Kong (2016).

Awarded the 1st Ram Jethmalani Excellence Award for Students in the Moot Category by Legit Quest (2019)
