Jindal Global University inks MoU with University of Otago, New Zealand

New Delhi, August 29, 2017:  Jindal Global University(JGU) and the University of Otago, New Zealand today announced the signing of MoU for academic cooperation aimed at providing a pathway to JGU MBA students into the Otago Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart).

The MoU was signed between Dr. Tapan Panda, Dean, Jindal Global Business School and Professor Robin Gauld, Pro-Vice Chancellor(Commerce) of Otago Business School. This academic understanding between two global Universities will allow students to experience the best of both worlds.

Professor (Dr.) C Raj Kumar, the Founding Vice Chancellor, Jindal Global University speaking on the occasion said,” A quality global business degree program can, not only help students develop a strong foundation in business fundamentals but also help to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to compete in a global, international marketplace. Students in such programs can learn a diverse skill sets, including how to construct management practices and processes in an international environment while recognizing global differences. JGU aspires to increase the quantity and raise the quality of higher education institutions in India, we need to draw from experiences around the world”.

University of Otago offers Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart). Both are 12 months, full-time courses of study. Students will complete the first year of their JGU MBA programme at JGU in Sonepat campus and satisfy the requirements for the second year of the JGU MBA by completing the Otago Master of International Business (MIntBus) and Master of Marketing Course (MMart).

JGU will recognise the Otago MIntBus and MMart as the second year of JGU MBA. Upon successful completion of Otago MIntBus and MMart, students will be awarded both the JGU MBA and Otago MIntBus and MMart.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Tapan Panda, Dean, Jindal Global Business School (JGBS), said, “New Zealand is becoming a new destination for management students due to quality of life as well as opportunity for professional excellence. Students of JGU have an opportunity to earn dual masters through this partnership. They can complete their first year of MBA here and then proceed to Otago Business School for completing their second year. They can join two programs namely Master of International Business and Master of Marketing. The students will receive a scholarship of NZ$5000 during the program. Such an initiative will help JGU in building truly world class business leaders”.

Otago University is New Zealand’s first University, founded in 1869. In the almost 150 years since, Otago has prided itself on being a research-led University with an international reputation for excellence. It is ranked 151 in the 2017/18 QS World University Rankings and in the top 100 in 12 subject areas. It received a Five Stars Plus QS Stars University rating in 2016.

The offered programs have intake of five students per course of Jindal Global Business School students. The students will also receive a sum of NZ$5000 towards accommodation scholarship in each program.
