O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has made a remarkable national and international debut through its first-ever participation in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026. This significant milestone is a powerful reflection of the founding vision of the University, the institutional inspiration that has guided its growth, and the sustained commitment and collective effort that have shaped JGU’s exceptional journey over the years.

In Psychology, JGU secured 2nd position nationally and ranked within the top 500 globally among institutions from 64 countries and territories, once again excelling in International Outlook. This outstanding performance reflects the collective strength of JGU’s Psychology, Counselling, and Behavioural Sciences ecosystem, and the dedicated efforts of the Jindal School of Psychology & Counselling (JSPC) and the Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences (JIBS).

Recognised as one of the world’s most credible and influential higher education benchmarks—trusted by students, academics, governments, and industry leaders—the THE Subject Rankings evaluated 2,191 universities across 115 countries and territories, with only institutions meeting stringent standards of data quality, teaching excellence, and research performance included. JGU’s powerful performance in this highly selective global exercise underscores its rapid rise, academic credibility, and growing international reputation. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess research-intensive universities across all their core missions: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Notably, 60–65% of the methodology is designated to research pillars—research environment, research quality, research outlook, and industry engagement.

The subject rankings evaluate institutions using 18 trusted performance indicators, recalibrated for each subject and grouped into five core pillars:

  1. Teaching (teaching reputation, staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-bachelor’s ratios, doctorates-awarded-to-academic-staff ratio, institutional income)
  2. Research Environment (research reputation, research income, research productivity)
  3. Research Quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence, research influence)
  4. International Outlook (proportion of international students, proportion of international staff, international collaboration)
  5. Industry (industry income, patents)

This robust framework ensures a balanced, globally benchmarked assessment of institutional excellence across teaching, research, and engagement. JGU extends special congratulations to the Jindal School of Psychology & Counselling, congratulating Professor Derick Hall Lindquist and the Dean of JIBS, Professor Pulkit Khanna, along with their teams, for their outstanding contributions in securing #2 in India in Psychology.
