About the Workshop
In this workshop, Dr. Sugandh Dixit will explore the profound impact of trauma on our mental and emotional well-being, emphasizing a social-centric approach to healing. Her insights will highlight how art can foster collective healing by addressing the layered impacts of personal, interpersonal, and sociocultural factors, rather than just focusing on the individual.
About the Facilitator
Dr. Sugandh Dixit (Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, Duquesne University USA) is a clinical psychologist with philosophical roots that move away from “fixing” the individual to acknowledging the impact of layered intrapsychic, interpersonal, and socio-cultural factors on our well-being. She has trained teams at various organizations (Sakhi for South Asian Women, New York, Carnegie Mellon, Pittsburgh, Pace University New York and Bapu Trust, Pune, Kashmir Life Line, Srinagar, Krea University) on topics such as trauma and community-centric work, inclusion & diversity, social identities, and psychopathology and role of social disadvantages, to name a few. She is presently in private practice in New Delhi and provides training to clinicians on active integration of the social lens of trauma. She is also part of the core team at Mad in South Asia, an organization working against the pathologization of mental health concerns and bringing forth voices of lived experiences.
This session is ideal for anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of trauma’s social roots and exploring creative healing methods through the arts.
