Biography

Nishtha Jain is a PhD Candidate at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Her research focuses on exploring the kinds of critical decisions that arise in the treatment of cancer and how such decisions are taken within the Indian healthcare context.

Apart from her thesis work, Nishtha has been actively updating herself with newer research methods. She has expertise in software such as R and Python, and in natural language processing analysis techniques, including sentiment analysis. Using such techniques, she recently published a paper analysing the crisis communication tweets of political leaders during the pandemic. She believes it is important for psychology researchers to realise the potential of Big Data in exploring human behaviour and posing critical questions to such data repositories.

Before joining JSPC, Nishtha has also worked as the editorial assistant for the prestigious Psychological Studies journal, and as research associate at IIT-Delhi. She has also received various awards such as UGC-JRF, UGC-SRF, and ICSSR Travel Grant Award.

In her academic journey, Nishtha aims to bridge the gap between psychological research and practical applications in healthcare, contributing to more effective decision-making processes and improved patient outcomes.
