Dr. Banani Basistha is currently an Assistant Professor at the Jindal School of Psychology and Counselling, O. P. Jindal Global University. Her academic journey spans diverse institutional settings, where she has made significant contributions to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, interdisciplinary research, psychological assessment tool development, and the mentoring of young researchers. She has over 11 years of experience in teaching, research, and psychological tool development.
After completing her Master's degree in Psychology, Dr. Basistha earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from Gauhati University in 2021. She was also awarded the prestigious Institution of Eminence (IoE) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Hyderabad, where she completed nearly two years of postdoctoral research specializing in Indian Psychology. Her research interests include Indian Psychology, Positive Psychology, Environmental Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, and the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
Dr. Basistha has authored more than 30 research publications in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals including Frontiers, Springer, Routledge, Taylor and Francis etc., many of which are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Her scholarly work has also been published by leading international publishers, including Springer Nature, Routledge, CRC Press, and Palgrave Macmillan. In addition, she has contributed academic e-content for the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and has a published Indian design patent in the area of AI-enabled health monitoring.
She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences in India and abroad. Her academic contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the InSPA Prof. Panch Ramalingam Young Scientist Award (2024) and three Best Paper Awards at international conferences. In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. Basistha actively serves as a peer reviewer for leading international journals published by SAGE, Taylor & Francis, and Frontiers, among others.
Dr. Basistha's work reflects a strong commitment to advancing evidence-based psychological research, promoting mental health and well-being, and fostering the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems with contemporary psychological science through excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and academic collaboration.
