Dr. Swati Tickoo has done her Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Delhi.
Even before Dr. Swati went on the adventure that is PhD, she familiarized herself with academic research through two very distinct yet equally interesting research endeavors. Her first foray into research was an interdisciplinary one; she worked as Research Assistant for an ICSSR funded project titled “Contested Spaces: Exclusion and Discrimination in Institutions of Higher learning in India” located in the Department of Political Science, University of Delhi. This project explored the lived experience of inclusion and exclusion of SC/ST students pursuing higher education in various central universities in India.
Following this, she also worked as a Junior Research Fellow at the Defence Institute of Psychological Research, DRDO. As a JRF, in DIPR, she was involved in research which had implications on the wellbeing of the Jawans of our armed forces.
Besides pursuing research, she also worked briefly as a psychologist at Manas Foundation, a mental health NGO, that works in Delhi NCR. In her role as a psychologist, she was involved in Gender sensitization program of Auto and Taxi drivers in NCR and also as a counselor in the Observation Home for Boys- II, in Mukherjee Nagar, Delhi.
Besides this, she is also a UGC NET SRF which she qualified on 28th May 2017.
Her major research interests include an amalgamation of Indian philosophical perspective with the Jungian – Archetypal psychology. She was also given a scholarship from IZAP, Zurich, to attend 13th and 14th annual Jungian Odyssey. She is a member of Ahmedabad Jung Center, DG of International Analytical Association of Psychology. She has also presented papers in various national and international forums pertaining to her areas of interest.
