Biography

Dr. Sangeeta has received her doctoral degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). Her doctoral dissertation explored the mental health of unskilled migrant labourers (UMLs) in India. Her work involves not only exploring the distressing experiences (suffering) that UMLs experience in their daily lives, but it also investigated the ways through which these UMLs develop meanings (healing) to face the adversities. 

Before pursuing her Doctoral degree, Dr. Sangeeta worked as a research fellow at the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR)/DRDO, Delhi from 2008-2010. There she worked as co-investigator in projects, such as Psychological Screening Capsule for MARINE Commandos; Impact analysis of suicide and fratricide in Armed forces (Follow-up); Development of test for Personnel Below the Rank of Officers (PBORs). She also did an in-house publication of a manual titled “Self-help Techniques in Military Settings”.

Before joining JSPC, Dr. Sangeeta has worked with Vishwakarma University, Pune, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, and Christ University, Delhi NCR in the capacity of an Assistant Professor. During her tenure she has taught subjects like Theories of Personality; Maladaptive Behaviour; Psychopathology; Motivation and Emotion, Foundations of Professional Counselling; Introduction to Clinical Psychology; Community Mental Health; Health Psychology, Social Psychology; Science of Wellness; Industrial and Organizational Psychology; Quantitative Research Methods; Experimental Psychology; Psychodiagnostics and Treatment; Educational and Vocational Counselling; Humanities for Engineers. She has also supervised 30 Masters’ Dissertation.
