Biography

Dr. Sanchita Singh earned her doctoral degree from the University of Delhi, where she conducted an in-depth investigation into the effects of problematic internet use on the self-esteem of adolescents. As part of her research, she implemented an intervention using Sahaja Yoga meditation to explore its potential impact on adolescents. Driven by her passion as a researcher, she also delved into the experiences of stigmatization faced by migrant workers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, she examined how meditation practices influenced the emotions and behavior of adolescents.

Her current research interests revolve around comprehending the effects of social media on adolescents, investigating issues related to the Queer community, and exploring various health concerns associated with sexuality. She is also working in the area of postpartum depression among young mothers in rural parts of india.

Dr. Singh's contributions go beyond her academic pursuits. She actively participates in a prestigious project led by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), focusing on developing training modules for teachers working with out-of-school students at Special Training Centres (STCs). Additionally, she plays a role in Manodarpan, an initiative by the Ministry of Education, offering online counseling to provide psychosocial support for the mental health and well-being of students. Dr. Singh maintains her involvement in conducting training sessions for corporate settings, administrative staff, and facilitating workshops that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of adolescents.
 
Counseling Experience

Dr. Singh, a counseling psychologist trained by NCERT, plays a pivotal role as the driving force behind Pratidhi Counseling—an organization committed to delivering counseling services to individuals in need of support. In her capacity as the founder, she actively engages with clients, assisting them in surmounting challenges and nurturing personal growth. With six years of counseling experience, she has honed her expertise in various counseling approaches, psychological assessment techniques, and therapeutic modalities such as CBT, REBT, PCA ,Queer affirmative counseling etc.
 
Teaching and Mentoring Experience

Prior to joining JSPC, she worked at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), MIT World peace University and   National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). She taught courses on Educational psychology, counseling Intervention with a special population, Psychodiagnostics lab( Practicum) , Multicultural counseling skill( Practicum) , Research proposal and supervision, Conducting/administering standardized Psychological assessments like CIS, Special Abilities (TAMANNA), RPM, MAP-T, Observation schedule, overall assessment, cognitive psychology and personality psychology.

Research Experience

Dr. Sanchita Singh engaged in several research endeavors during her time at IIT-Delhi and Delhi University. Her current projects involve utilizing phenomenological approaches to explore the transformative experiences of meditation practitioners in relation to the self. She also aims to comprehend the concept of self-realization, specifically in the context of uniting the inner self with divinity, from a cross-cultural perspective. Furthermore, she conducts lexical analysis of the Bhagavad Gita from the lens of positive psychology. Dr. Singh has an extensive list of publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and has presented her research at various national and international conferences. Additionally, she actively participates in workshops and short-term courses to continually enhance her academic knowledge and skills.
