Dr Nitya has received her doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2020. Her doctoral research constructed a psychoanalytic discourse around childhood by exploring its repressed imaginaries through the narrative frames of Hindi novels. She has a keen interest in Psychoanalytic theory especially in exploring the intersections between Psychoanalysis and Literature.
She has presented her research papers at various conferences such as, Indo- Japan International Psychoanalytic Conference at Ambedkar University; National Seminar on Psychology at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, National Seminar at Zakir Husain College; Committee on Women and Psychoanalysis International Conference (COWAP), Kolkata; Asian Studies Annual Conference (ASAC), Centre for Advanced Studies, Kathmandu and National Conference on Learning, Lady Irwin College.
Her other areas of interest mainly include psychoanalysis as a literary and critical theory, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, myths and its symbolisms, conceptual history of psychoanalysis, gender theory and sexuality, peace psychology and politics of intimacy.
She was awarded the ‘Certificate of Disciplined and Meritorious Work’ by the Department of Psychology, Lady Shri Ram College, University of Delhi. Her paper, ‘Feminist in an intimate Triad’ got nominated for Sudhir Kakar Award at the Indo-Japan Psychoanalytic Conference, 2017. Another paper, ‘The discourse of a daughter – A Melancholic feminine’ was awarded as the best paper at an annual paper presentation competition at Aryabhatta College, DU.
She has taught papers like Organisational Behaviour, Counselling Psychology, Peace Psychology and Social Psychology at several Delhi University colleges such as, Gargi College, Kamla Nehru College, Bharati College, Jesus and Mary College. She has also taught undergraduate elective course on Stress Management at Netaji Subhash University of Technology.
