Centre for Translation, Print, and Publishing Studies

The Centre for Translation, Print, and Publishing Studies (CTPPS) was launched on International Translation Day (Sept 30) 2024. It brings together the fields of translation, print culture, and publishing studies—fields that connect communities, preserve histories, and shape our understanding of literary traditions.

The official launch event featured a keynote address by Dr. Rakhshanda Jalil, a renowned translator, writer, and literary historian. Dr. Jalil delivered a talk titled "From Text to Context: A Personal Journey," where she reflected on her extensive experience in the field of translation and share her insights into the transformative power of words and their contexts. Since then, the Centre has had the pleasure of hosting talks and workshops by translators such as Dr. P. K Mangalam, Ms. Maria Puri, and Professor (Dr.) Galina Rousseva-Sokolova.

The CTPPS team, led by Director, Professor Denys P. Leighton, includes Professor (Dr.)

Galina Rousseva-Sokolova, Ms. Neus Gimeno Gimeno, Dr. Niyati Sharma, Dr. Turni Chakrabarti, and Dr. Samudranil Gupta. The Centre is interested in becoming an interdisciplinary space for scholars, practitioners, and students to explore the intersections of global oral and literary cultures and engage with contemporary practices of translation and publishing.
