Biography

Supriya Shukla is a theater practitioner and an actor. She has been working in the field of performance for 19 years.She has worked as an actor, dramatist & translator,where she has regularly collaborated with theater directors,artists, filmmakers and dancers on different projects. Some of her play-scripts are “Baghdad Burning”, “Jameela : an Autobiography of a Sex Worker”, and “Trojan Women” by Jean Paul Sartre (translated into Hindi by her).

In 2015 She was awarded a year-long fellowship at international research center, Interweaving Performance Cultures (Freie University, Berlin.) for her doctoral project.

She has worked with renowned theater practitioners, directors, actors and teachers like Adil Hussain, Anuradha Kapur, Rob Claire, Kirti Jain, Abhilash Pillai, M.K.Raina, Zuliekha Chaudhary, Naseeruddin Shah, Bansi Kaul, David Zinder, Ramgopal Bajaj, Robin Das, Rashid Ansari, Maya Rao, Ulrich-Meyer-Horch, Craig Mathers, Cynthia Aspherger, as part of training and practice.

She has previously taught at Dept. of Theatre Arts, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, and Shri Ram Center for Performing Arts, New Delhi.

She is associated with Ilhaam Studio, Delhi. She is also actively engaged with Theatre iEntertainment, a trust focused on TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences).

Her research & Performance interests are –Women&/in Performance, Michael Chekhov Technique for Training of the Contemporary Actor, & Applied Theatre.
