Professor (Dr.) Jitendra Nath Misra holds a Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University and is a retired Indian diplomat, serving as ambassador in Portugal and Laos, and consul general in Ho Chi Minh City. He was educated at the prestigious Mayo College and St. Stephen’s College. He serves as Professor of Diplomatic Practice at the Jindal School of International Affairs of O.P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, India, Senior Fellow at the Jindal India Institute, and Distinguished Fellow at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies, Dhaka. Most recently he was a visiting professor at Jamia Millia Islamia University, and previously, a visiting professor at University of Lisbon, and University of Social Sciences and Humanities- Vietnam National University. Earlier, he was an adjunct associate professor at Georgetown University, and a lecturer at Jamia Millia Islamia University.

Professor (Dr.) Misra is an author, editor, and translator. He is the author of the book Radhaland and Worlds Beyond (Authorspress, New Delhi, 2023). He has about 25 book chapters, and 25 journal articles covering the social sciences and literature in world- renowned journals in India, the U.S., Australia, Singapore, Portugal, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Vietnam, including in World Policy Journal, World Literature Today, India Review, Nação e Defesa (Nation and Defence), The Interpreter, Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Peace and Security Review, Vietnam Journal for Indian and Asian Studies, India Quarterly, IDSA Journal, Strategic Analysis, Jindal Journal of International Affairs, Observer Research Foundation, Gateway House, Vivekananda International Foundation, and Indian Literature. He has served as a reviewer of unpublished book manuscripts for world- renowned publishers.

Professor (Dr.) Misra has published globally in newspapers and magazines, including in The Indian Express, The Tribune, The New Indian Express, The Pioneer, The Asian Age, The Statesman, The Political and Business Daily, Outlook, and Filmfare (India); Yahoo.com and MSN.com (U.S.A.); Fieldhockey.com (South Africa); The Nation (Thailand); Prothom Alo (Bangladesh), and Thanh Nien Daily (Vietnam). He has either been interviewed by, or has been quoted on, BBC (U.K.); AP, ABC News, The Diplomat, and The Dispatch (U.S.A.); AFP and France 24 (France); Mainichi Newspaper (Japan); The National (U.A.E.); The Frontier Post (Pakistan); Taipei Times (Taiwan); The Indian Express, The Economic Times, The New Indian Express, Rediff.com, Indo- Asian News Service; Eurasian Times, and The Voice of Sikkim (India), and others.

As a public intellectual Professor (Dr.) Misra has been a broadcaster and anchor on television and radio globally and has been widely interviewed. He has appeared on BBC World and BBC News (U.K.);  Swedish Radio (Sweden); Asharq News (U.A.E.); SIC Noticias Television and RTP Television (Portugal); All India Radio, Sansad TV, NDTV, CNN News 18, Rajya Sabha TV, DD Sports, Times Now, Aaj Tak, Zee News, Mirror Now, India TV, The Citizen, Living India News, News of the World Odisha, and Bharata First (India), and others.

Professor (Dr.) Misra has delivered lectures at Foreign Service and Armed Forces training institutions, universities, think tanks, and schools in India, the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Portugal, Singapore, Vietnam, Colombia, and Laos, as well as under the Distinguished Lectures programme of Ministry of External Affairs, India. He has a grant from Fundação Oriente, Lisbon, for a book on India- Portugal relations.

Professor (Dr.) Misra has served as an advisor to the government of Odisha state on sports, and is the vice president of Jawaharlal Nehru Hockey Tournament Society. He has taught courses on Sports, and has written extensively on the subject.

For meritorious public service Professor (Dr.) Misra has two commendations from the government of India. He is a Goodwill Ambassador and Honorary Citizen of the City of Houston. He has been awarded the Medal of Ho Chi Minh City and is a Distinguished Citizen of the city.

Professor (Dr.) Jitendra Nath Misra was born in Birapurusottampur in the Puri district of Odisha state in 1956. He is married to Ratnaprava and has three children.
