Biography

Savini Mehta has an MLitt (Master of Letters) in Terrorism and Political Violence from the University of St. Andrews. Her previous position as at at the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses focused on terrorism, anti-radicalisation, ethnoreligious conflict research as well as issues of appropriate ground level counter-terrorism responses and the development of a formal Indian counter-terrorism strategy. Her MLitt dissertation explored the dynamics of hyper nationalistic narratives proliferating the democratic processes of a developing state and its potential for democratic breakdown. Her current research interests revolve around questions of state and state sponsored terrorism, terrorism and the question of legitimacy in violence as well as the dynamics of terrorism and the sustainability of developing democracies.
