Dr. Hebatallah Adam is a scholar, editor, and academician with over two decades of experience in the fields of International Economic Development. Currently, she is a Professor of Economics and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Master's Programme) at the Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA), O.P. Jindal Global University, Haryana, India. Before her role at JSIA, Dr. Adam was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Business, Ain Shams University, Cairo, and an Adjunct Professor at the German University in Cairo and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport.
Dr. Adam is the visionary behind establishing the Jindal Centre for the Global South, a distinguished research centre affiliated with Jindal Global University's (JGU) School of International Affairs. The primary mission of the Centre is to promote cutting-edge global research in fields such as Global South studies, South-South Cooperation, and Sustainable Development. Beyond that, it aspires to become an intellectual hub that fosters inventive solutions to the problems encountered by the Global South. Dr. Adam's leadership in establishing the Jindal Centre for the Global South reflects her vision for creating a think-tank that addresses the challenges and opportunities facing the Global South through innovative research and solutions.
Dr. Adam has also founded the Africa Dialogue Forum (ADF), an initiative to bring together a coalition of organizations and thought-leaders dedicated to the advancement of the "Better Africa Cause.". The ADF facilitates in-depth dialogues with renowned experts and academics to foster actionable ideas and sustainable transformations across Africa.
Her academic credentials include B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. from prestigious institutions in Egypt and France, including Ain Shams University, Poitiers University, and the I.A.E. de Paris - Sorbonne University. Dr. Adam has substantial publication record covering poverty alleviation, financial inclusion, green growth, fintech, and international development. Additionally, she has supervised Masters and PhD students from both India and Egypt.
Dr. Adam's research interests encompass International Development Economics, Green Economics, International Trade, Political Economy of Development, and Global South Studies. Her scholarly contributions are widely acknowledged in journals and books, with notable publications in Scopus-indexed journals and significant books and book chapters published by international publishers such as Springer and Routledge. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Adam is actively engaged in international networks and editorial committees. She is a full member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and an associate member of the African Studies Centre at Leiden. Furthermore, she is member of the International Editorial Committee of the Journal of Liberty and International Affairs.
Dr. Adam is a peer reviewer for numerous reputable journals and has served as a guest speaker and presenter at an array of international conferences. Her work continues to be at the forefront of addressing critical issues and advancing economic development in the Global South.
