Bilquees Daud is an Assistant Professor & Assistant Director Centre for Afghanistan Studies at the Jindal School of International Affairs, O.P. Jindal Global University, India. She earned her BA in social sciences from the American University of Afghanistan and a master’s degree in public policy from the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt, Germany. With extensive experience working with local and international organizations, universities, and research centres in Afghanistan and abroad, she has authored numerous research and analytical articles published by various sources.
Her research primarily focuses on non-violence as a powerful tool for socio-political mobilization, promoting peace education, the role and agency of women in rural areas, and strategies to counter religious radicalization in the region. She occasionally provides media commentaries on Afghanistan for platforms such as BBC, Diplomat, and Sputnik. Recently, she published a book titled Education for Peace: Rehabilitating Non-Violent Discourses in Afghanistan, where she draws on the legacy of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, who pioneered efforts to provide education to men and women in the tribal areas of modern-day Pakistan and used non-violence as a potent tool for socio-political mobilization.
