Biography

Dr. Kim Emmanuel earned her PhD at Warwick University and completed postgraduate studies at Oxford University and the University of the West Indies (UWI). She holds a BSc. from the latter. She has served in diplomatic and foreign policy roles and has garnered a wealth of experience in international affairs and public policy. She has been part of delegations at Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings, World Trade Organisation forums and meetings of various UN bodies. She has participated in the US State Department International Visitor Leadership Program and has been an official representative at several international and bilateral fora. Additionally, she has held academic positions with Warwick University and the University of the West Indies. Her current research focuses on foreign policy and China’s relations with the developing world. She also has expertise in International Law, including Law of the Sea. The latter has been the subject of postgraduate theses at Oxford University and UWI. She is currently working on a book project that examines the power dimension in maritime claims within specific regional contexts. She has participated in the US State Department International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
