Prof. (Dr.) Hebatallah Adam is Associate Professor, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs (Masters’ Program), and the Executive Director of Jindal Centre for the Global South – O.P. Jindal Global University, Haryana – India. She is affiliated as well to the Department of Economics, Faculty of Business, Ain Shams University, Cairo-Egypt where she has acquired more than 17 years of research and academic teaching experience.
Dr. Adam has been exposed to a multinational scientific environment as she has received two bachelor’s degrees from Ain Shams University in Egypt and from Poitiers University in France. She has earned two master’s degrees as well, one in Management Control and Audit from Sorbonne University, France, and another one in Economics from Ain Shams University, Egypt.
Dr. Adam has completed her Ph. D. in Economics from Ain Shams University – Egypt. Her thesis title: “The Role of Microfinance in Poverty Alleviation in Egypt: A Comparative Study”. In her Ph.D. study, Dr. Adam has assessed the impact of microfinance in changing the socio-economic conditions of the poor people in Egypt with comparison to a panel of countries of Latin America and South-Asia. In her post-doctoral research, Dr. Adam is focusing on research areas that are related to: Development finance, international economics development and Global South challenging issues.
During her academic career, Prof. (Dr.) Hebatallah Adam has taught courses in Economics in different languages (English, French and Arabic) to undergraduates and postgraduates’ students (from different nationalities). For instance, she has taught: International development finance and south-south cooperation, Political Economy, Political Economy of Africa, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Economic Policies Analysis, International Economics, Applied Economics, Economic Development, Resource Economics, Public Finance, Foreign Direct Investment, Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis, and Money and Banking.
Dr. Hebatallah Adam has under her supervision Master and Ph.D. students who are working on different research subjects, for instance:
- Economics of using nuclear power to generate electricity
- Economic Impact of the Increasing Palestinian Public Debt
- Economic legislations and their role in encouraging investment in Egypt
- Role of SMEs in women empowerment in Egypt (Comparative study)
- Financial inclusion in Egypt
- Poverty Alleviation Programs in Egypt
- Export Promotion Strategies and Trade Liberalization
Dr. Adam has established a strong academic international network by collaborating with international scholars. She has published with authors from India, Colombia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and Syria. She has been as well invited several times as a keynote speaker in many national and international conferences.
Dr. Hebatallah is interested in research areas that are related more specifically to International Development Economics, Global South Studies, South-South Cooperation, International Trade, Sustainable Economic Development, Green Economics, Microfinance, and Financial Inclusion.
