Dr. Christine Moliner is a social anthropologist whose work focuses on South Asian, particularly Panjabi/Sikh migrants in Europe. After graduating in international relations from Sciences Po, she completed her Ph.D. at the Centre d’Etudes de l’Inde et de l’Asie du sud (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris) on Sikh identity narratives in Europe. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in France, the UK, India and Pakistan and taught anthropology, Sikh studies and migrations studies courses. She is currently focusing on issues related to the impact of an irregular status on the socio-economic and health condition of South Asian migrants in France, as well as on the making of their subjectivities. More recently, she has also conducted ethnographic research on the representations and experiences of violence and death in migration among Afghan asylum seekers and refugees in France.
She is a fellow of the Institut Convergences Migrations, a recently created research consortium on migration issues (http://icmigrations.fr/) and a co-editor of the online academic journal SAMAJ (South Asia Multidisciplinary Academic Journal) https://journals.openedition.org/samaj/?lang=fr
