The four-year Interior Environments pathway @JSAA is a cutting-edge program in Interior Design/Architecture that will make you an industry-ready design professional who is critical, and entrepreneurial; is globally competitive, and locally embedded; is invested in making, and able to think on your feet; and exercises empathy and practices judiciously across diverse scales and media.
Situating itself within the terrain of complex practices of inhabitation through objects, materials, and memories, this program is suitable for students who want to work in the areas of Interior Design, Set and Production Design, Object Design, Appurtenances design, Museum and Event Design, Virtual Design, Retail Design, Design and Style Consultants, etc.
Upon the successful completion of this program, you will be awarded a Bachelor of Design (B. Des) degree.
The coursework in the Interior Environment Jindal Pathway program @JSAA is divided into two parts, 1) the Major area of Study and 2) the Open or Minor Area of Study.
Duration - 4 Years
In the Major area of study students of JSAA have to take courses across four categories:
A minimum of 24 credits in the program is reserved as either open coursework for students to take any elective courses in the school or university as they desire or,
To use towards a preconfigured minor program of study within JSAA or the university at large. The minor program of study provides three major advantages to a JSAA graduate:
It expands their scope of employability: by training in an additional area of work the minor program makes a student more attractive to prospective employers by increasing their capacities to work across multiple tasks but also across multiple sectors of the industry.
It expands their scope of further education: Since students have completed a minimum of 24 credits in that area of study, they are also eligible to undergo graduate work in their minor area of study
The minor area of study expands the interdisciplinary orientation of a graduate allowing them to fashion themselves as uniquely trained professionals who are able to bring an additional skill set to any job they are asked to undertake.
Currently students of JSAA have the option to undertake minor program of study in the following areas:

Meenakshi V, 4th Year Major in Interior Design & Minor in Business studies | The interdisciplinary approach at JSAA has transformed my understanding of design, allowing me to see it as a dynamic and connected practice rather than a standalone field. This has driven me to look at real-world complexities in a way that is meaningful and context driven. | |
Nadia John, 4th Year Major in Interior Design & Minor in | My time in the Interior Design program at JSAA has been transformative, shaping my understanding of design into something both rigorous and deeply empathetic. The program fosters an environment where knowledge is found in the making of the very object it seeks to investigate, represent, and reproduce. With a focus on research-informed design and iterative practice, JSAA has allowed me to chart my own trajectory- blending a personal interest in heritage and art history alongside the coursework offered." |
