Biography

Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee is Professor & Deputy Director, IIHED leading the Centre for Comparative and Global Education under the aegis of the International Institute for Higher Education Research and Capacity Building, O.P.  Jindal Global University. She has been also appointed as Honorary Senior Fellow of the Faculty of Education, University of Melbourne. 

She is a distinguished Fulbright alumna with 20+ years of experience in the higher education sector of India, USA, and Australia. She is the Vice-President of Research and Partnerships Development of the STAR Scholars Network, an Executive Committee Member of the Indian Ocean Comparative Education Society (IOCES) and a Research Standing Committee Member of the World Council of Comparative Education Societies (WCCES).

She worked as a consultant for the World Bank (New Delhi), UNESCO-IIEP (Paris), Higher Education Strategy Associates (Toronto) and the Australia-India Institute (Melbourne). As an external resource person, she co-authored the 2019 UNESCO-APCIEU award-winning Handbook- “Global Citizenship Education for upper-primary School Teachers” published by NCERT, India.

She is a Springer Book Series editor. She also serves as Associate Editor, Guest Editor, Editorial Board Member & Peer-Reviewer of international academic Journals. She has authored 40+ internationally peer-reviewed publications by reputed publishers, such as Routledge, Brill-Sense, Sage, Springer, and Oxford University Press.

Her research interest and expertise are in Education Policy and Leadership, Comparative and International Education, Decolonial Pedagogies, Participatory Research Methodologies and Southern Theory.
