Jindal Global University invites you to an engaging workshop on: “Hindustani in the Mughal Era”. This session will trace the evolution of Hindustani as a lingua franca within the linguistic landscape of the Mughal Empire. The discussion will explore its social locations, its literary use as Rekhta and mixed-language poetry, and the emergence of its prose traditions in the 18th century. The talk will also reflect on why the idea of Hindustani was gradually neglected in later centuries.
