I.D.E.A.S. Masterclass Series online session titled, "Same but Different: Care, Domestic Work and Sex Work in the Gendered Political Economy” by Dr. Sharmila Parmanand. Dr. Sharmila Parmanand is an Assistant Professor in Gender, Development and Globalisation at the Department of Gender Studies, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is also an Associate Academic at the LSE Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre and co-convenor of the Development Studies Association Women and Development Study Group. Her research explores colonial histories and gendered logics shaping development and humanitarian interventions in the Global South, with particular focus on migration, gender-based violence, precarious labour, economic restructuring, social protection, and the politics of knowledge production.
