About the Speaker:

Dr. Hari Charan Behera is an Associate Professor at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Sociological Research Unit, Giridih. Before joining ISI, he held academic positions at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie.
He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Hyderabad (2008). His research expertise encompasses agrarian studies, natural resource governance, rural entrepreneurship, tribal studies, and cultural studies, focusing on the socio-economic dynamics of rural and tribal communities in India. Research often critically examines the impact of development policies and neoliberal economic models on marginalised communities, particularly tribal populations. He has also been involved in projects focusing on land tenure, community land use practices, and the livelihood vulnerabilities of tribal groups in eastern India.
