Gayatri Balu is an academic and researcher specializing in gender studies, feminist politics, and development. She served as an Assistant Professor at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, where she taught courses on Gender and Public Policy and South Asian Women's Literature. Gayatri holds a PhD in Gender Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and has an extensive professional background, including roles at IIT Delhi, the Society for Social and Economic Research, and the Odisha Livelihoods Mission. Her research explores gender and religion, as well as gendered labor dynamics. Her work also addresses critical issues such as gender imbalances in STEM and women's land ownership rights, earning her recognition, including the Vina Mazumdar Memorial Fund Award.
