Professor (Dr.) Tony Travaglione is a distinguished figure in global partnerships and strategic engagement, currently serving at the University of Wollongong. He joined UOW from the University of Newcastle, where he significantly contributed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the Newcastle Australia Institute of Higher Education in Singapore. He has also served as Chairman of the Institute's Board and as Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement and Partnerships.
With a distinguished teaching career at prestigious institutions such as Stanford University and the University of California, Los Angeles, Professor Travaglione’s academic journey is marked by notable achievements. In 2011, as Pro Vice-Chancellor at Curtin Business School, he was instrumental in founding the Curtin Law School and achieving AACSB accreditation for the Business School. His tenure at the Curtin University was marked by a significant rise in the university's global ranking, climbing from 429th in 2013 to 212th in 2016, a testament to his leadership and vision. March 2017 saw him assume the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor of Business and Law at the University of Newcastle, during which he also chaired over the Australian Deans Council. Tony’s contributions to research leadership were recognised in 2012 when he received the prestigious Paul G. Dunn award.
