Professor (Dr.) Saumen Chattopadhyay is Professor at the Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies (ZHCES), School of Social Sciences at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India. He earned his PhD(Economics) in 2002 from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The title of Ph.D. thesis is “Macroeconomic Dis-equilibrium and the Black Economy in the context of Stabilisation Policy in India”. His areas of interests are - Economics of Education with focus on education policy, governance and financing of education; Public finance with focus on tax evasion and the black economy.
