Professor (Dr.) Manisha Priyam is Professor of Education Policy at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi. She is a Senior Academic and Researcher, and works on issues of development and politics. She has a doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), in International Development, where she examines the politics of education policy reforms in a comparative perspective.
Priyam has served on various national and international committees— Member of the Gender Budgeting Committee, Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI, since 2019; the Australia-India Research Fellowship Steering Committee for Doctoral Fellowships, since 2022; Institutes of Eminence Evaluation Committee, 2022. In her policy
advisory role, she has served as a She has worked for the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, the World Bank, and the UNDP as Adviser on projects of tertiary education reform, primary education reform, and urban social policies. Priyam has over two decades of experience of working with donors, policy makers, administrators and stakeholders in policy formulation, implementation, and evaluations.
She is a leading commentator on policy and political issues on the print and electronic media worldwide—The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, India Today, CNN, CNBC, Times Now, ET Now, Mirror Now, Aaj Tak, ABP, Doordarshan, Rajya Sabha Channel. She writes for leading national newspapers and weeklies in Hindi and English-the Indian Express, the Hindu, Mint, Outlook, Dainik Jagran, Amar Ujaala, and Prabhat Khabar, and Hindustan. Her academic writings have been published in the Economic and Political Weekly, Seminar, and the University News.
