  • Bio
Professor (Dr.) Elizabeth J. Done graduated from the London School of Economics (majoring in sociology) in 1983 and was a Professor in the School of Psychology at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan. In 2001, she gained a PhD at the University of Plymouth’s Institute of Education where she currently supervises predominantly international PhD students and leads an MA Education programme with a global reach. She is a member of the UK Economic and Social Research Council Peer Review College and has been an expert commentator on European Union funded research projects. Elizabeth has published widely in high profile international journals on inclusion policy and edited collected works offering international perspectives on inclusion-related policy and practice. She mobilises poststructuralist perspectives in the theorisation of exclusionary practices in education in both national and international contexts and identifies tensions between the various discourses of internationalisation in neoliberal education cultures. Drawing on her teaching experiences across a wide range of demographics, Elizabeth is currently exploring the potential disconnect between institutional level discourses around internationalisation and student experience. A primary objective in her own inclusive teaching practice is exercising cultural sensitivity whilst simultaneously ensuring that students acquire the knowledge and skills required for career progression.
