Professor (Dr.) Arif Satria is the Rector of Institut Pertanian Bogor, currently known as IPB University, in Bogor, Indonesia (2017-2022 and 2023-2028). He was the Dean of the Faculty of Human Ecology of IPB (in 2010-2017) and prior to that, he was a lecturer in the Department of Social Economics for Fisheries in the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of IPB. He is currently the Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI). Notably, he was an advisor to the Indonesian Minister of Marine and Fisheries in 2012. Prof. Arif Satria has been actively involved in the development of marine and fisheries policies since 2002, including in the preparation of the Blue Economic Concept, as well as several Government and Ministerial Regulations. He received his Bachelor's degree in Socioeconomics from the Faculty of Agriculture IPB University and completed a Master's degree in Rural Sociology from the same university. He earned his Ph.D. in Marine Policy from the University of Kagoshima, Japan. He served as a visiting fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. During his appointment as the Rector of IPB, Prof. Arif Satria has received various awards, such as the Best Academic Leader of Indonesia State Universities with Legal Entity by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (2022), Most Popular University Leader by the Public Relation Indonesia Awards (2022), and Extraordinary Dedication Award by the Ministry of Social Affairs (2023), among others.
