UPDATE: JGU Awarded six UK-India Education and Research Initiative Grants

JGU, jointly with its UK-based partner institutions, has won six separate grants within the UK-India Education and Research Initiative (UKIERI) Study in India project to host students from the UK for short-term mobility programmes.

 

The total grant amount awarded, combining all six grants, is in excess of GBP 150000.

 

Professor Kalyani Unkule, Director of JGU’s Office of International Affairs and Global Initiatives along with her team members had taken the lead in working with UK partner institutions towards applying for the grants and eventually, applications were submitted with the University of Bristol, University of Essex, Queen Mary University of London, Nottingham Trent University, University of Derby, Queen’s University Belfast and University of Leeds. In addition, the Founding Director of the Jindal Centre for Social Innovation + Entrepreneurship, Assistant Professor Jeremy Wade had jointly applied with the University of Southampton, assisted by the Office of International Affairs and Global Initiatives. Of these, the applications with the University of Leeds, University of Essex, University of Bristol and University of Southampton, Nottingham Trent University, and University of Derby were successful. 

 

The UKIERI Study in India programme aims at encouraging students enrolled at UK Universities to spend a period of study at an Indian university. Through the course of 2020 and 2021, approximately 80 students and accompanying members of faculty and staff will be attending short study programmes at JGU in a range of disciplines. The programmes are designed to emphasise cross-school engagement and participation and it is hoped that JGU students will gain immensely from their interactions with the visiting groups from the UK.
