On November 4, 2019, the SLCE hosted Democracy Wall, a free-speech campus initiative by The Print. Democracy Wall is intended to build unhindered and open conversations on Indian politics, art, and entertainment industries, led by the best in these fields. It offers young and aware Indians a platform to express their thoughts and aspirations: in voice, prose, verse, painting, or music.
The event included an opinion piece-writing and a photography contest. Winners of the contests were awarded certificates by The Print.
At JGU, the event had an impressive line-up with achievers and experts from different fields: Shekhar Gupta (Founder and Editor-in-Chief, The Print), Ilma Afroz (IPS Officer), Sona Mohapatra (Music Artist and Producer), Gourav Vallabh (Indian National Congress’ National Spokesperson), Sayema Rehman (Radio Jockey, Radio Mirchi), Vithika Yadav (Head, Love Matters) and, Rajneesh Kapoor (Stand-Up Comedian).
