Senior Research Fellow
Shivjot Gill is a Senior Research Fellow at Jindal Institute of Behavioural Sciences, O. P. Jindal Global University, Sonipat, Haryana. She completed her Ph.D. with expertise in the field of sports and positive psychology. Her current research work involves interdisciplinary engagement which focuses on exploring the impact of mental training methods on well-being and other health components of Indian athletes. She holds a Bachelor with majors in Psychology from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Master of Sciences with expertise in counselling and clinical psychology from Punjabi University, Patiala. She has completed Level one Compassionate Integrity Trainer (CIT) certified by Life University, USA and UNESCO -MGIEP.
In addition to academics, she has contributed to the field of sports for 11 years as an athlete and has competed at National and International level in Shotgun shooting. Presently, she is working with athletes of both national and international level and providing them with her psychological assistance and guidance to plan their training schedules along with consistent application of psychological preparation strategies. In past, Shivjot has worked with various organisations as a sport psychologist namely Punjab Armed Police (P.A.P), Jalandhar, Army Cadets Corps (NCC) of Punjab, Haryana, H.P and Chandigarh and Archery Team, Punjabi University, Patiala.
In addition to her work experience, she has presented at various International conferences both in India and abroad and has facilitated workshops on topics related to health &well-being, Training scheduling, motivation and mindfulness, Goal exploration and goal setting. Shivjot has also gained her experience in the field of guidance and counselling for almost three years as academic counsellor and is currently pursing it as an adapted practice in the context of athlete’s career building and guidance.
