Research Funding
JGU Research Grants
The University’s Research Grants Policy is aimed at promoting a rigorous research culture, supporting knowledge creation, and undertaking socially-relevant research. The JGU Research Grants Committee administers the award of short, medium, and long term grants to faculty members. Previous and current faculty research projects that have been funded by JGU grants include consumer vulnerability, the India Public Policy Report, and e-governance and urban poverty.
External Research and Capacity Building Grants
JGU’s Consultancy Policy facilitates the participation of faculty members in consultancy and other research assignments outside the University, and the conduct of management development programmes by the Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education (JILDEE). Many requests for consultancy support and participation are facilitated through JGU’s organisational network and national and international collaborations.
Doctoral Research
JGU’s doctoral programme was introduced in 2014 in four schools which offer taught master’s programmes – Jindal Global Law School, Jindal Global Business School, Jindal School of International Affairs, and Jindal School of Government and Public Policy. Applicants to the doctoral programme are required to have a Master’s degree or equivalent. Shortlisted candidates are required to take an entrance test and an interview before final selection. Successful applicants are awarded the Jindal Doctoral Fellowship for a period of four years that covers living expenses. Boarding is provided to doctoral scholars in the University’s Halls of Residence at no charge, inclusive of meals. Applications to the doctoral programme are accepted on a rolling basis twice a year, in the Fall (August) and Spring (February) semesters. Doctoral scholars are expected to complete the programme in a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years.
Funding for Students
JGU earmarks 20% of its annual research budget to support student research projects and activities that include annual student research colloquiums.
