Applicants compare a four-year route against a five-year route, assume the longer one delivers more, and stop there. The number is the least informative part of the decision. Two universities can advertise identical timelines while operating under different regulatory structures, issuing different documents at the end and offering different rights midway. India now has published rules that separate these structures, notified in the Official Gazette in May 2022. This article sets out what those rules state, what each term produces, and which questions decide whether a management programme deserves five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"ez-toc-container\" It does not measure how many degrees are awarded, who awards them, or whether a student may exit partway with a recognised qualification. Three candidates may each spend five years on management. One finishes a single integrated programme. One finishes an Indian degree with two semesters abroad and a foreign transcript. One is admitted to two universities and collects two certificates. The duration is identical. The paperwork is not.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Dual_Degree_Integrated_Degree_and_Twinning_Programme\"><\/span>Dual Degree, Integrated Degree and Twinning Programme<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The University Grants Commission notified the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Academic Collaboration Regulations, 2022<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the Official Gazette on 2 May 2022. The three definitions are not interchangeable. Under a twinning programme the Indian institution alone awards the degree. A joint degree ends in one certificate carrying both names. A dual degree is offered by both institutions in the same discipline and at the same level, and confers two degrees separately and simultaneously. Two conditions apply throughout. Credits must be earned in conventional face-to-face mode, and no such programme may run online or by distance learning. In BBA (Hons.) Business Analytics, JGBS has an arrangement with Deakin University in Australia under which a student completes two years at JGBS and years three and four at Deakin, graduating with two degrees. All four years may instead be completed at JGBS. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jgu.edu.in\/jgbs\/internalizations\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published dual degree table<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> records this as a two plus two route to a Bachelor of Business Analytics. Duration stays at four years either way. Only the degrees, the fees and the second admission change.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Global_Systems_Name_the_Same_Structures\"><\/span>How Global Systems Name the Same Structures<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vocabulary is similar abroad. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, funded by the European Commission, involve at least three institutions in three countries and run for one to two academic years, equal to 60, 90 or 120 ECTS credits. The award is either a joint degree, one certificate issued on behalf of at least two institutions, or multiple degrees, at least two certificates. Almost 50,000 students have taken part since 2004.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Checks_Before_Paying_a_Registration_Fee\"><\/span>Checks Before Paying a Registration Fee<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On 12 December 2023 the University Grants Commission issued a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">public notice<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recording that several institutions had entered arrangements with foreign providers it does not recognize. Franchise arrangements are not permitted, and degrees issued under them carry no recognition.
