Riya Gogia is an Assistant Lecturer and Assistant Coordinator for the M.Sc. Global Health and Human Development programme at the Jindal School of Public Health and Human Development, O.P. Jindal Global University.
Her academic background spans sociology and interdisciplinary health studies, with a B.A. (Hons.) in Sociology from Ambedkar University Delhi and an M.A. in Health, Gender and Society from the Department of Liberal Arts, IIT Hyderabad. Her research interests lie at the intersection of chronic illness, gender and health, primary healthcare delivery, medical anthropology, and sexuality.
Riya’s recent work, “Men and Masculinities in the Times of Chronicity,” is an ethnographic exploration of men living with Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension in Delhi, focusing on masculinity, care, and everyday negotiations of illness. She has previously contributed to a systematic review on women’s mental health risk factors at the Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar, and worked on reproductive health and impact assessment projects with the Ladli Foundation in Delhi. She is driven by a deep-seated passion to understand health inequities with a culturally relevant lens.
