Go Green

The “Go Green” initiative is aimed at making the JGU campus green by planting different species of trees around the campus to promote biodiversity and ecological balance. Under this project the campus has been mapped under different areas for various plant species. There are also provisions for a herbarium and medicinal plants under this project. Different plant species will also attract different kinds of insects, birds and other fauna, thus enriching the biodiversity of the area. About 2,000 trees including herbs, medicinal plants, fruit and flower trees, and ornamental plants have been selected in the initial phase and planting began in October 2015. Students from across JGU have been involved in this project along with members from the University’s horticulture department who are supporting the plantation activities. The future goal is to establish a “Green Corridor” along the Delhi National Capital Region involving other similar institutions, and interested students and community members.
