This edition delves into critical discussions surrounding gender, labor, and economic justice, with a focus on the invisibility of women’s unpaid labor, the Pink Tax, and the gendered nature of ambition.
The feature article, The Invisible Economy: Recognizing Unpaid Domestic Labor in Global Economic Metrics, highlights how the exclusion of unpaid care work distorts economic frameworks and reinforces gender inequality.
This is complemented by a policy column on the Pink Tax, which unpacks the systemic economic penalties placed on femininity. The issue also covers an on-campus discussion on gendered ambition, exploring how societal expectations shape professional aspirations.
Additionally, this edition includes a thought-provoking podcast on Women as Symbols for Nationalism featuring a critical analysis of gendered representations in nation-building.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the speakers for their insights, as well as our dedicated columnists of the Gender and Society cluster for their valuable contributions. A special thank you to our entire team, our faculty advisors, and the CNES community for their unwavering support.
